It Was Him All Along (Thursday Poem)

It was His love that kept me

going. That filled me up and

gave me more than i could

handle so I could give to others.

It was His strength that gave me

hope. That caused me to wake

up everyday and choose life

in the midst of hardship and pain.

It was His mercy that told me

I am forgiven. That lifted my head

and told me to get up, take my

mat and walk so that I could tell

It was His peace that calmed

my spirit in the midst of calamity.

That gave me a new vision and

opened my eyes to a stronger faith.

It was His breath that gave my soul

an essence. That provided the sweet

smelling perfume that is His radiant

light to beam and glow from the inside.

It was His blood that redeemed me.

That told me I was worth dying for.

That gave me another chance.

That told me I was chosen.

I didn’t need anyone else.

It was Him all along.

4 Seasons (Tuesday Poem)

a season of tears,

a season full of fear,

a weary soul, a dying soul,

two forces battling over one,

how precious can this soul be?

a season of pain,

a season drenched with rain,

showers of grief pouring over,

spiritual attacks on every turn,

why is he trying so hard to kill me?

a season of sadness,

a season of mental madness,

the flesh wants to give up

but, the spirit says hold on.

will there ever come a day where

these two are on one page?

mentally tired,

emotionally drained,

spiritually wounded,

in need of a Healer who can

handle all 3.

in this season of trials,

in this season of suffering,

in need of a Healer who can

save me from the enemy

“Pour Me a Drink”

“Pour me a drink as I celebrate my life.

I am alive. I am present. I am here.

My presence is the light of the world.

I look in the mirror and I’m in love with

who I see. I see a child of God with a

God that’s in love with me. I’ve been

distraught and depressed, but I overcame.

I continued to get back up after being

knocked down and now my feet remain

planted and I stand upright, refusing

to be knocked down ever again.

Pour me a drink as I commemorate my life.

For a time well spent and a job well done.

I did what I had to do and I did it with flair

and style. I didn’t let anyone talk down on

or ridicule me. I knew who I was and I knew

where I was going. Now that I’m here,

I am happy.

So pour me a drink and I’ll raise my glass.

“Here’s to me, for finding my purpose and

moving pass the past. Cheers.””

“Soul” Work

Many say that the soul is a “non physical, immortal essence”. It’s a ghost or a light inside of you. There are many meanings for soul for many different people. But, according to the Bible, soul means “throat”, or “body”. The Hebrew word for soul is “Nephesh” and occurs over 700 times in the Old Testament. So, according to the body, people don’t have a soul, but rather, they are a soul. We are souls, living physically beings.

So, what is soul work? Is the soul often confused with the spirt? I believe so. The spirit inside of us is the only thing that provides our external light or is released from us later on. Our soul makes up our entire being, inside and out. So, when people say “soul work”, I believe it really means “spiritual work”.

“Soul Healing”

Spiritual work is the internal aspects inside that often make their way out through our words and actions. How do we combat the negatives of our spirit? How do we deal with ourselves when our spirits are not being used by the Greater Spirit? Well, this is what I do:

I’m a spiritual person who believes in Christ, so naturally, He is the source of everything good and pure inside of me. When my spirit is mean or ugly, I know that that comes from the fleshly spirit, not the Holy Spirit. I try my best to pray the moment I feel negativity in my spirit. I also do devotions and attend Bible studies to keep my spirit aligned with God.

Another thing that helps me is sleep. Sleep is possibly one of my top go-to’s. No one likes to be stressed or overwhelmed, so after I’ve called out the name of Jesus once or twice, I submit myself to the beautiful unconsciousness that is sleep.

The spirit is a powerful thing. It is the backbone of your character, your actions, basically who you are. The Spirit is how the heart, mind, and soul can be on one accord. Take care of your soul today by building your spirit.
